Are the servers managed?

"Managed servers" has many different meanings for web hosting companies and clients. While we do provide support of our dedicated servers, they are not "managed" per se, unless you have purchased managed services, or are hosted out of one of our datacenters that provides managed services on all plans. All virtual hosting plans come with the DirectAdmin control panel which gives you full control with regards to setting up new domains, email accounts or managing your DNS. If you have a dedicated server but chose to not purchase managed services, we will still go out of our way to insure you are satisfied with your service. Whether you need step-by-step assistance on how to use the control panel, installation of a module to get your web script running or troubleshooting for your websites, we will do our best to help you. There may be instances in which you have installed a buggy script and have 100's of websites on your server. In those instances the problem may be beyond our abilities and a server administrator is better qualified. If that is the case we will inform you of such and offer you options on how to proceed. Why do I need a dedicated IP address?

There are arguments that go both ways in this discussion. We recently discovered a report by respected SEO consultant, Bruce Clay in which he reported the following: "It's been said that about 3 percent of all Web sites have dedicated IPs, with the other 97 percent resting on shared IPs. Research was then conducted analyzing the top 50 results for certain queries in the various search engines. The research found that 90 percent of the top-50 results were using dedicated IP numbers." Tests were performed in which a site was moved from a shared IP to a dedicated IP and the results confirmed that the site ranked better on a dedicated IP. There are many other arguments for not sharing IP's with strangers, such as "bad neighborhoods" so it is our opinion that a dedicated IP is much better SEO-wise than a shared IP.

Does Got Web Host offer 24/7 support?

Yes we offer 24 hour a day, 7 days a week support via email, ticket system, the popular instant message programs and telephone. Telephone is recommended for emergency issues (site or server down) for fastest service.

What means of support are available?

How long will the web hosting setup take?

Virtual web hosting plans usually take 15-30 minutes for us to setup, if you just ordered or are about to order feel free to call us to get an estimate on setup time. Dedicated servers are usually same day or within 24 hours for most datacenters.

What payment options are available?

We accept these major credit cards: Visa, MasterCard and American Express. We also accept Paypal, Epassporte's virtual cards, wires (quarterly) and checks. When paying by check, the server will be activated after the check clears.

Is it easy to upgrade our web hosting account as we grow?

What is a Class C?

If you do not understand what a Class C is after reading the section on Multiple Class C IP Addresses then let us think of it like a telephone number: Area code would be the Class A and B. Prefix would be the Class C. You would be getting different prefixes.

What is the difference between a dedicated IP and a shared IP?

Let's look at it like a telephone number again. Your website is assigned an IP number. You can have a shared IP which is like a "party line", in that many houses share the same telephone number and multiple people are reached with that one phone number. A dedicated IP would be like having an exclusive phone number.
